Webinar looks at Brazilian climate agenda’s challenges and opportunities
The webinar, called “Challenges and Opportunities for the Brazilian Climate Agenda,” will discuss this subject, focusing on land use and energy.

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is holding a free webinar about possibilities and difficulties related to the climate agenda in Brazil. This public event will take place on April 25, at 6 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel.
The speakers will be environmental economics researchers Amanda Schutze and Clarissa Gandour, both of whom have doctorates in economics from Rio de Janeiro Catholic University. The moderator will be Lycia Lima, a professor at FGV EESP and the deputy director of the school’s Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Brazil and Lusophone Africa (CLEAR).
The webinar, called “Challenges and Opportunities for the Brazilian Climate Agenda,” will discuss this subject, focusing on land use and energy, highlighting the importance of strengthening transversality and social justice in relation to the climate agenda.
Tackling the climate crisis requires effective, immediate action on a global scale. Brazil, which once had a prominent role in this area, can now resume its international leadership. To do so, evidence-based public policy is the key instrument and now is an opportune political moment to move the Brazilian climate agenda forward. However, the country will face significant challenges along the way.
The event is being organized by the Public Policy Module of FGV EESP’s Professional Master’s in Finance and Economics Program, in partnership with CLEAR and the Global Evaluation Initiative.
