Webinar promotes dialogue among experts on the new landscape of digital platform work
Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Communication, Media and Information (FGV ECMI) is hosting a webinar called “Digital Platform Work, Digital Influencers, and Regulation,” on March 14, starting at 2 p.m., on FGV’s YouTube channel.
The transformations in the advertising market caused by content production on social media and the work of digital influencers have changed the way information is created and consumed in online environments. To analyze this new behavior, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Communication, Media and Information (FGV ECMI) is hosting a webinar called “Digital Platform Work, Digital Influencers, and Regulation,” on March 14, starting at 2 p.m., on FGV’s YouTube channel.
The goal is to foster dialogue among experts about new working conditions on digital platforms, with a specific focus on the role of influencers and regulatory debates in Brazil and worldwide.
The meeting will look at new work practices mediated by digital platforms, which challenge agents and organizations interested in regulating the communication market. Until recently, regulations were based on establishing norms and rules for communication processes typical of a situation dominated by mass media outlets.
The moderator will be Professor Anna Bentes of FGV ECMI. The speakers will include Issaaf Karhawi, a journalist and author of the book “From Blogger to Influencer”; Jonas Valente, a researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute; and Rafael Grohmann, a professor of critical platform studies at the University of Toronto.
