2024 Public Good Olympiad now accepting applications from high school students
Top three ranking third-grade students will receive scholarship to study public or business administration at FGV EPPG

The 2024 Public Good Olympiad, an initiative run by Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Public Policy and Government (FGV EPPG), is accepting applications as of October 14, 2024. This year, the competition, which is open to high school students at public and private sector schools across Brazil, has the central theme of “Climate Change and the Public Good: Challenges and Solutions for a Sustainable Future.”
With the aim of engaging young people in reflecting on the impacts of climate change and their role in protecting the public good, the 2024 Public Good Olympiad encourages research, essay writing and the formulation of local solutions. The initiative seeks to develop a commitment to the public good and sustainability in the next generations.
Prize
The top three ranking third-grade students will receive a scholarship to study public or business administration at FGV EPPG, covering different proportions of tuition fees. There will also be trophies for the winners in all grades. The supervising teachers will also receive certificates of participation.
Schedule
Applications: October 14 to November 15, 2024
Submission of essays: November 20, 2024
Evaluation period: November 21, 2024 to January 17, 2025
Awards ceremony: January 31, 2025
About the Public Good Olympiads
The Public Good Olympiads were created to stimulate young people’s interest in careers focused on the public good and to strengthen their commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through research and reflection, students are encouraged to propose solutions to environmental and social challenges in their communities. Professor Elvira Cruvinel Ferreira will be the executive coordinator of the 2024 Public Good Olympiad, together with the FGV EPPG team.
