Alcoa closes a partnership with EAESP to implement the Juruti unit in the Amazon

In order to create a sustainable design agenda in Juruti, in the Amazon, the company Alcoa (one of world's leader in aluminum production) has partnered with the Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) of EAESP and the Brazilian Fund for Biodiversity (Funbio). The project, called ?Juruti Sustentável? (Sustainable Juruti) presents a proposal for local development by proposing a sustainable strategy for the insertion of a large mining enterprise in the city, which lies on the banks of the Amazon River, in the state of Pará. At the time the project was approved, EAESP held a public meeting in the city of Juruti with representatives from the communities, the government, and business entities in order to format the set of indicators that will be used to monitor this development.
