“Amazon Dialogues” series debates tax reform

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is holding another webinar in the “Amazon Dialogues” series, this time titled “Tax Reform on the Agenda.” This public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on July 11, at 7 pm.

The House of Representatives’ Tax Reform Working Group recently presented a report on its activities and main reform proposals. It is now expected that a constitutional amendment proposal will be presented to the House before the parliamentary recess. Accordingly, the webinar will discuss this report and the next steps to pass this reform of the Brazilian tax system.

The speakers will be Sidney Leite, federal representative and member of the House’s Tax Reform Working Group; and René de Oliveira e Sousa Júnior, the Pará state finance secretary. The moderators will be Márcio Holland, a professor at FGV EESP and the coordinator of its Finance and Economics Master’s Program; and Professor Daniel Vargas, the coordinator of FGV’s Bioeconomy Observatory and FGVAgro’s research coordinator.

The event is part of the Amazon Dialogues, a digital platform to discuss topics related to sustainable socioeconomic development in the Brazilian Amazon with the whole of organized civil society.
