FGV IBRE is Brazil’s first research institute to receive ISO 9001 for Cost Engineering
This certification encompasses the federal government’s main transport infrastructure cost systems: the Construction Work Benchmark Costs System (SICRO) and Railroad Benchmark Costs System (SICFER).
On November 18, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV IBRE) received ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System certification in the area of Cost Engineering. It is Brazil’s first research institute to be certified with ISO 9001:2015, thanks to the excellence of its work in the supply of benchmark parameters and complex studies to guide the federal government’s investments.
This certification encompasses the federal government’s main transport infrastructure cost systems: the Construction Work Benchmark Costs System (SICRO) and Railroad Benchmark Costs System (SICFER).
Both SICRO and SICFER are essential when it comes to signing contracts for large investments in infrastructure projects in the country, establishing price parameters that allow greater transparency and speed in bidding processes and often saving the government money.
According to Túlio Barbosa, FGV IBRE’s infrastructure and government markets superintendent, this certification covers the provision of cost breakdown and valuation services for infrastructure projects, through technical reports and highly complex productivity coefficient studies to support public agencies.
It represents and demonstrates FGV IBRE’s concern for the responsible use of public resources, because from a technical point of view, this certification requires it to show discipline and transparency in monitoring and complying with all standards, processes, procedures and management indicators defined by the International Organization for Standardization.
