FGV Online is nominated for the second consecutive year to the OCW People's Choice Awards

For the second consecutive year, FGV Online was nominated to the OCW People's Choice Awards, an award to the best initiatives within the Open Course Ware Consortium - an international consortium of open education which the FGV Online is a member since July 2008. In 2012, FGV Online was nominated for the Most Engaging Resource category, which rewards the institutions that offer the most engaging contents, competing alongside two major initiatives in the sector of long-distance education: iTunesU, an educational software from Apple, and the Khan Academy, an organization that provides free internet video classes through a channel on Youtube that already had more than 150 million hits.Renowned educational institutions such as MIT and the University of California - Irvine, as well as TED, participate in other award categories, organized by the American website Educational-Portal.com. The readers of the portal and the OCWC community were the ones who chose the top 30 best initiatives of the consortium, divided into 10 categories. FGV Online is the only Brazilian representative on the award.For us, winners of the most innovative and cutting edge initiative in 2011, the responsibility is huge, coupled with the prestige of being next to two giants of the digital world of education. The nomination shows that we are on the right track regarding the interaction model with the public and students. I am very proud to be ahead of the FGV Online. Currently, 41 courses are offered, including Law, Business Management and Marketing programs, courses aimed at high school teachers and a quiz about the new spelling rules of the Portuguese language, among others. In 2011, FGV Online innovated and closed partnerships with large companies and organizations to launch courses on Sustainability, Personal Finance and Innovation.The OCW People's Choice Awards voting, opened to the public, ends on August 31st, when the winners of the ten categories will be announced.
