Positioning Fundação Getulio Vargas as a protagonist in the analysis and research of the energy debate in the Country, by subsidizing the elaboration of public policies for the development with a geopolitical and sustainable vision, and help FGV to be internationally recognized as one of the main Think Tanks of the world in the energy industry. These are the objectives of FGV Energy, FGV's new center for applied research.FGV Energy initially owns a body of researchers from FGV's Schools and activity areas, besides invited experts. FGV has been analyzing the creation of the Center for Energy Studies for some time, but we feel that this is the right moment, since we are witnessing a possible shift in the global energy matrix, due to the Shale Gas, says Carlos Otavio Quintella, Executive Director of FGV Energy. The world energy industry is going through significant changes and the great challenge of humanity is to obtain and provide sustainable sources of energy for the development of humanity itself, he warns.According to Carlos Otavio Quintella, FGV Energy will encourage the production of the already existing knowledge on the energy sector in the institution, serving as a catalyzer. Each FGV unit produces its studies from a specific point of view. And we will publish these lines of thought, providing a multidisciplinary nature to the analysis and research in energy. This will be one of our key competitive advantages, he explains, highlighting that the goal is to combine FGV's credibility and tradition with the innovative nature of the center's proposal.FGV Energy will focus on studying the energy sector with an emphasis on seven large areas (oil, natural gas, electricity, nuclear, biofuels, renewable sources and energy efficiency) to assist private companies and the government in their decision making process, as well as to establish partnerships with other institutions and research centers in Brazil and abroad. We will serve as a focal point for energy knowledge production both for the public and private sectors, concludes Carlos Otavio Quintella.FGV Energy is linked to the Presidency of FGV.
