Legal and AI startup competition receiving entries
The competition is one of several activities to take place on Global LegalTech Venture Day – AI Revolution in Legal Practice, which will be held on April 16, starting at 4 p.m., in FGV’s main building in Rio de Janeiro.

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School, in partnership with IE University and the Law Schools Global League, is now accepting entries for the LegalTech Startup Competition, which aims to identify and support startups that have a positive and progressive vision of the main challenges currently faced by legal operators and systems.
The competition is one of several activities to take place on Global LegalTech Venture Day – AI Revolution in Legal Practice, which will be held on April 16, starting at 4 p.m., in FGV’s main building in Rio de Janeiro. The selected startups will present their proposals to an audience and a jury of respected experts.
The winning startup will receive a trip funded by the event organizers (flight plus accommodations) for one of its representatives to Madrid, Spain, for a second competition. This competition will take place as part of the South Summit, against the winners of regional heats held in Kyushu, Japan and Belfast, Northern Ireland. The startup representatives will present their proposals to an audience of industry experts, made up of investors and mentors who are pioneers in the legal and business worlds. As well as being able to network with the South Summit participants, the winner of the second competition will receive mentoring from LexisNexis, a pioneer and leader in the field of technology in the legal market.
The competition is open to innovative startups that are using new technologies to solve legal challenges faced by companies, governments, public institutions and the general public in different areas of society.
To take part in the competition, startups must:
- be stabilized or in the process of stabilization, or have a concrete and well-structured idea;
- be innovative (in terms of product/service, business model or route to market);
- be scalable and have commercial potential or have an internationally scalable business model;
- have appeal to a large market.
The initiative is sponsored by MyLegal and BTG Pactual, and supported by the Brazilian Association of LawTech and LegalTech Firms (AB2L).
