New books discuss governance, regulation of the Internet, technology and society
The launch of the books “Governance and Regulation of the Internet in Latin America” and “Present Horizon – Technology and Society under Debate” will be held at the FGV Bookstore.

On May 27, the FGV´s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) will be holding the launch of the books “Governança e Regulações da Internet na América Latina” (“Governance and Regulation of the Internet in Latin America”), by Luca Belli and Olga Cavalli, and “Horizonte presente – Tecnologia e Sociedade em Debate” (“Present Horizon – Technology and Society under Debate”), by Jhessica Reia, Pedro Augusto P. Francisco, Marina Barros, and Eduardo Magrani. The event will be held at the FGV Bookstore (Praia de Botafogo, 190, Rio de Janeiro, RJ)
In a context in which the Internet and information and communication technologies (ICTs) are increasingly ubiquitous in society, “Governança e Regulações da Internet na América Latina” aims to understand and question the facets that make up the prism of Internet governance and analyze the instruments of regulation that influence its evolution. The book honors the 10th anniversary of the South School on Internet Governance (SSIG), the largest Internet governance training event in the region, the ninth edition of which was organized at FGV Direito Rio.
In turn, “Horizonte presente: Tecnologia e Sociedade em Debate” is the result of a partnership between FGV Direito Rio and Editora Letramento and brings analyses to emerging issues that involve issues of technology, law and society, such as smart cities, privacy and data protection, connectivity, digital security, and the Internet of Things (IoT). To explore this multifaceted reality, this work brings together specialists from different sectors and fields of knowledge to discuss concerns, solutions and opportunities, both within and beyond Law.
