Online meeting discusses 4th edition of Cryptocurrency Data Challenge

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is holding a webinar to explain and answer questions about the fourth edition of the Cryptocurrency Data Challenge or “Datathon.” This public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on December 7, at 6 p.m.

This is an initiative by the school to promote studies and activities involving blockchain and financial innovations, and to encourage the integration of undergraduate students from all over Brazil. FGV is part of a select group of universities around the world that are Ripple’s partners in the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI).

This year, the competition has a team of supporters including Hashdex, QR Asset, GV Code, FGV Crypto, USP-UBRI and Portal do Bitcoin.

The event is an online competition in which each team is challenged to work on real problems in the cryptoasset and digital currency ecosystem. The teams have nine days to come up with a solution to the challenge, which may be based on the themes and data set provided on the opening day of the event or on their own data, as long as the sources are cited. There is a group of mentors on hand to help the teams during the challenge and a committee to analyze the solutions submitted by the groups and select the winning teams.
