Unparalleled event explores national and international regulation
From December 4 to 8, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School is holding the first edition of “Regulation Week.” This series of meetings will take place in four cities (Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Sao Paulo and Houston), bringing together government leaders, Brazilian and foreign legal experts, other specialists and professionals in different regulated sectors, to discuss key aspects of national and international regulation.
The final event in this series of debates will occur at the FGV Cultural Center on Praia de Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, on December 8, at 1:30 p.m., featuring former New York mayor Bill de Blasio and Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Paes, for a panel discussion called “Smart Cities: Promises and Disappointments”.
The first topic to be debated will be oil and gas regulation, on December 4, in the auditorium of law firm Mayer Brown LLP in Houston, Texas. Insurance and pension regulation will be the focus of discussions on the second day of the meeting, December 5, in the auditorium of law firm Mattos Filho in Sao Paulo.
On the morning of December 6, FGV’s main building in Brasilia will host specialists and officials to debate regulatory challenges related to airport infrastructure. In the afternoon, the same venue will host experts and officials to discuss the challenges of the Brazilian port sector. Railroad regulation will be debated on December 7, also in FGV’s main building in Brasilia. On the same day, the FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School Regulation Best Practices Awards will be handed out. On December 8, Regulation Week will end with a discussion called “Contemporary Regulatory Challenges” at the FGV Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro.
