Water regulation is theme of online event

In order to debate prospects and key problems for efficient water regulation, both nationwide and at state level, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School will hold a webinar on November 13 called “Prospects for Water Regulation in Brazil.” The online event will take place at 5 pm on FGV’s YouTube channel.

Moderated by Professor Rômulo Sampaio of Rio de Janeiro Law School, speakers with solid track records in Brazilian water regulation and management will present an overview of the sector 20 years after the creation of the National Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency (ANA) and discuss pending dilemmas in Brazil.

The speakers will be ANA’s director of regulation, Oscar Cordeiro Netto; the Sao Paulo state government’s water resources coordinator, Rui Brasil; and Professor Bianca Medeiros of Rio de Janeiro Law School. Together, these specialists will analyze water regulation challenges, especially in the global context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The webinar is being organized as part of the Water Regulation Research Project conducted by Rio de Janeiro Law School’s Center for Research in Law and Economics. The main findings of this research project will be presented and debated by the speakers.
