On January 27, the Center for Education and Research in Innovation (CEPI) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo Law School will hold an event called “A Look Back on the Gig Economy: Legislative Debate in 2020,” which will discuss a bill designed to regulate work through digital platforms.
This type of work, known as the “Gig Economy,” gained greater prominence in Congress in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Delivery services were deemed essential as a tool to enable social distancing in a section of society and the continuity of economic activity in different economic sectors, while app drivers were in constant contact with passengers.
