Tribute highlights the chancellor's legacy and his role in Brazil's foreign policy.

On February 7, the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) awarded the FGV Prize to Brazil's Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira. In its first edition, the award recognized his career and important contribution to Brazilian diplomacy, built up over more than 50 years of dedication to Itamaraty.
The event took place at the FGV Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro and brought together more than 200 Brazilian and foreign diplomats, as well as family members, friends, professors and students from the institution. The ceremony was attended by FGV's president, Professor Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, who presented FGV's initiative to recognize, through the award, the legacy of personalities whose work has had a significant impact on Brazil's development.
In his speech of thanks, the Chancellor highlighted FGV's contributions to knowledge, the preservation of memory and the promotion of debate on Brazil's international relations. He also addressed the country's role on the global stage, highlighting the importance of the G20 in projecting Brazilian foreign policy. Finally, he expressed his gratitude to the FGV students who volunteered at the G20 Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro on November 18 and 19 last year.
In addition to the award, Minister Mauro Vieira received a watercolor given to him by the FGV student volunteers at the G20. The work is part of a special edition of the Brasilidades Aquarelas collection by French artist Gérard Lusteau and creatively depicts the Botafogo cove, symbolizing the partnership between FGV and Itamaraty in the context of the G20.
